A major sea port, cosmopolitan like many such cities around the world, it is located in south west Ukraine, situated on the Black Sea. Odessa is a city in Ukraine with a rich history. Catherine the Great founded the city in 1794. Eisenstein and the film Battleship Potemkin, a tale of the spark in 1905, that lit the fuse setting off the Russian Revolution in 1917. The film made the Odessa Steps famous in the West, A lovely city, warm in the summer, it has many beautiful places to visit, or just relax and stroll around. We travelled to Odessa by bus from the border with Romania.
